Abstract
This paper is focuses on ECA brochure on science and technology. In spite of wide-spread recognition of the critical role of science and technology (S&T) in the development of nations, and over three decades of science and technology efforts in Africa, science and technology-led development has had little effect on the mainstream of socio-economic activity in the region. Per capital food production has been declining; population has been growing faster than the rate of food production, and environmental degradation has accelerated.
