Abstract
Sorahum is one of the major grain crops for Botswana, a semi-arid country, and it is drought resistant. It is therefore important for Botswana to develop high quality sorghum varieties which can produce stable yields under stresses of drought, extreme temperatures, diseases and insect pests in order to have seed security in the production of staple crops. One of the mandates of the Department of Agricultural Research of the Botswana Ministry of Agriculture is to develop such varieties to be made available to farmers.
