Mission report : promotion of the informal sector for development in Africa funded by the government of the federal republic of Germany through GTZ

Abstract

The Project for the Promotion of the Informal Sector for Development in Africa is funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany through GTZ and executed by ECA. The objective of the project is to develop capacities of Informal Sector Operators (IPO) to better contribute to economic development in Africa. Specifically, the Project targets individuals who already operate some form of informal business activity, but generally lack the technical as well as business management skills to advance/expand the business. The Project, therefore, provides IPOs with appropriate training, organizes them into groups/associations and assists them in acquiring business locations as well as accessing credit facilities.
