Abstract
The objectives of the Conference includes: (a) The critical assessment of the real chances for economic recovery and medium-term development; (b) The analysis of the r required changes in the political, social, institutional, and scientific environment? (c) The review and assessment of the implementation of the United Nations programme of Action for African Economic Recovery and Development (UN-PAARED)based on Africa's own Priority programme for Economic Recovery, 1986-1990 (APPER)and (d) The re-evaluation of the overall prospects for long-term development in Africa as reflected in the Lagos Plan of Action (LPA).
