The aim of the present document is to sum up the obstacles hampering the development of intra-regional trade most of which have already been identified in several extensive studies, and to recommend measures which would lead to their elimination or reduction. It is fully appreciated, that each of those measures represents a complexity of problems which call for specialized studies to be carried out by sub-regional or intra-regional teams, with the technical and financial assistance of the UN agencies concerned.
