Survey of economic and social conditions in Africa, 1978 - 1979 - Part II section A

Abstract

The present survey is published in two parts, with part I consisting of two sections: The first section of part I contains a general summary followed by a review of the African development strategy, the international economic situation and the progress towards the establishment of a new international economic order, and finally, the economic developments and policies in the ECA region during 1978 and 1979. The second section contains a study on economic growth, employment, income distribution and mass poverty in the ECA region. Part II covers current economic developments and policies in the individual countries of the ECA region, mainly emphasizing the years 1978 and 1979.
