African women and economic development : investing in our future

Abstract

The Economic Commission for Africa, the African Centre for Women are organizing, on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of ECA, an International Conference in Addis Abeba, on the theme: “African Women and Economic Development: Investing in our Future” between the 28 April and 1 May 1998. A workshop has been organized between 17-20 February 1998 to prepare for this Conference, which seeks to mobilize partnership around concrete actions which link economic development imperatives to the challenge and the need to achieve gender equality and equity in Africa. The participants who were convened at this workshop came from national governments, International Governmental Organizations (IGIs), bilateral, regional sub-regional organizations women’s organizations and other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
