The Economic Report on Africa (ERA) reviews the performance of the region's economy during the past year and considers the prospects for the short and medium term. With a special focus on poverty reduction, the publication gives an evaluation from the perspective of reducing poverty by half over the next decade and a half. The ERA presents a set of indices on the basis of which both short- and long-term sustainability can be evaluated. The sustainability analysis evaluates social, economic and other performance, outcomes and policy efforts of African countries in terms of progress towards a well-defined long-term goal of halving poverty by the year 2015.
