Résumé
This background paper following a desk study by the African Centre for Women (ACW) of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) aims to spark policy debate on gender dimensions of the relationship between national budgetary policies, women's unpaid work and time use in this work, and their vulnerability to poverty. The paper has three primary objectives. First is to highlight economic and social costs to policy makers of ignoring women's unpaid work and time burden in the household economy. Second is to take stock of where we are in terms of implementing International Development Goals (IDGs) in engendering national budgets in Africa.
