Abstract
The Five Workshops for Trainers in Home Economics and other Family-Oriented Fields described in this Report are a direct response to the challenge given to the international organizations by the women delegates to the FAQ/ECA/SIDA Seminar on; Home Economics Development Planning for English-speaking Countries in Africa (Addis Ababa, 1972).One of the problems examined at this Seminar was the shortage of well-trained manpower in many African countries for the planning, implementing and supervising of home economics programmes, for national development. In view of the importance to national development of improving the quality of life, of families, the participants recommended" that, international agencies should assist individual member countries in developing, more highly qualified home economics staff, by setting up and sponsoring in-service training programmes, workshops and conferences.
