Abstract
The objective of the workshop was to provide a forum for exchange of information and networking among all stakeholders (policy makers, public agencies and the private sector) with a view to creating a better environment for coordinating the various initiatives on trade and investment promotion in the sub-region. The workshop focused on the following: assessment of the success and challenges of the various mechanisms for trade and investment promotion in Southern Africa, at both national and sub-regional levels; Identification of issues that need to be addressed to encourage further growth in the region and draw lessons from the experiences gained by public agencies as well as by the private operators and consideration of innovative mechanisms for tapping financial resources and technical expertise of Africans in the diaspora.
