Three UK Government Agencies contributed to a wide range of mapping projects in Africa during the period September 1989 to February 1993. OS International was involved in map production as part of the UK aid programme and on repayment, plus secondments and consultancies in surveying, mapping, land registration and computing. Military Survey revised a number of aeronautical charts and provided geodetic and photo control in Kenya and Congo. The Hydrographic Office continued its work of preparing and publishing revised and new charts covering ports and coasts around the continent.
Details of each agency's activities are described in the body of the report, with annexes listing the maps and charts published by OS International and the Hydrographic Office and training courses provided at Ordnance Survey.
