Résumé
The Women's Policy primarily amis at institutionalizing the political, economic and social rights of women by creating an appropriate structure in government offices and institutions so that the public policies and interventions are gender-sensitive and can ensure equitable development for all Ethiopian men and women.Consistent with the above policy, Article 25 of the new Constitution guarantees all persons equality before the law, and prohibits any discrimination on grounds of gender. In addition, Article 35 reiterates principles of equality of access to economic opportunities, including the right to equality in employment and land ownership.Based on the principles taken prior to Beijing, Ethiopia is not only one of the countries that endorsed the Beijing plan of Action without any reservation during the IV World Conference but also played a very important role in the preparatory process of the document at sub regional and regional level.
