In the course of the last four years a huge amount of resources and energy has been invested in launching and supporting the so-called Monteux/Munich/Merida process. This process aims at strengthening the use of statistics, indicators and quantitative methods for improving monitoring of human development, human rights and good governance.
The original intention of this process was not to set up a "Swiss" project, but to lay foundations for the development of an international initiative that, by its own nature, would be owned and conducted by a large number of institutions and experts from the South and the North. Today this intention is becoming a reality.
