In accordance with the United Nations General Assembly resolution (43/182), calling upon the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the regional commissions and other organizations and specialized agencies of the United Nations system to include in their agenda during their 1989 meeting items regarding their contributions to the preparation of the International Development Strategy for the fourth United Nations Development Decade (IDS), the ECA prepared the African region's contribution as part of the process for the preparation of the Decade of the International Development Strategy.
