During the biennium 1990-1991, ECA work programme in the field of socioeconomic development planning continues to focus on a set of activities designed to provide guidelines for the accelerated implementation of the goals and objectives of the regionally agreed development strategies, the Lagos Plan of Action, the Final Act of Lagos, the United Nations Programme of Action for African's Economic Recovery and Development, the African Alternative Framework to Structural Adjustment Programmes for Socio-economic Recovery and Transformation, subregional and regional sectoral plans, development decades, International Development Strategy, and the Substantial New Programme of Action for least developed countries. The work programme, under programme 3 development issues and policies, falls into three sub-programmes: socio-economic analysis, planning and projections; fiscal, monetary and financial issues at the national level; and, least developed countries.
