Report on assessment of manpower, equipment and materials needs of the survey department of the republic of Ghana

Abstract

The Economic Commission for Africa has responsibility for assisting member States to develop their national economies in the various sectors. In the natural resources sectors cartography (surveying and mapping) and remote sensing are indispensable tools for resources planning and meaningful development including their managements as well as for environmental control and prevention of natural and man-made hazards. To match the political independence of a large number of the member States with economic independences it is imperative that they should strive to be self-reliant and self-sustaining in their basic needs to revamp their battered economies. Political independence which is not backed by economic independence is a sham and a mere political shibboleth.
