Availability of African statistics in selected fields (Agriculture, Demography, Education, Transport and Trade)

Abstract

A great deal of agricultural statistics in Africa have been collected in a haphazard manner using subjective methods of estimation; but recently scientific methods of collecting, agricultural data involving the use of sampling methods and objective methods of measurement have been introduced in many countries of the region., However the surveys conducted have been of limited scope and coverage’s often carried out region by region without covering the whole country in a single year. Hence the information available is still limited in determining the general agricultural activities and in particular the changes taking place in the traditional sector of agriculture.
