Abstract
The performance of ECA Statistics Division during the biennium 1988-1989 was affected by the long delay encountered in filling the vacant posta following the lifting of recruitment freeze. Thus the division had an average of 68 percent of the total work-months originally provided for it in the work programme budget. This represents a slight improvement compared with the situation during the biennium 1986-1987. The percentage of total work-months available increased from approximately 58percent in January 1988 to 75 percent in December 1989. The full list of professional staff in the Statistics Division is attached as Annex I.
