Technical publication on present status and perspectives for the production of flat products in Africa

Abstract

This technical publication presents the results of a study on assessment of imports, present status and perspectives for the manufacture of flat steel products in Africa. The study was initiated and carried out by the Industry and Human Settlements Division of ECA as an additional output of the 1988-1989 work programmes on the development of metal industries in Africa. This initiative was in response to draw attention of African countries to a very weak development of metallurgical facilities for the production of flat steel products in Africa.
