This brief progress report on the trade situation between Africa and the People's Republic 6f China is pursuant to the decision taken at the eighth and ninth Conference of African Ministers of Trade. It is based on the study prepared by the secretariat entitled “Mechanisms for Facilitating Trade between African Countries and China" If although this study covers only a few African countries s many of the observations apply in general to the whole of the African region.
