Transport statistics year book for pilot countries=Annuaire statistique des transports pour les pays pilotes

Abstract

This first edition of the transport statistics Yearbook is just the beginning for the whole implementation process of the transport database for Sub-Saharan Africa through the Regional Transport Database Project. The countries considered in the first edition of the Transport statistics Yearbook for Africa are only the seven pilot countries that have been involved in phase l of the Regional Database project. The provision of technical guidance and support to the seven pilot countries as well as some NGOs and ECA is the major feature of this phase of the project. The exercises in the pilot countries will mainly focus on testing various alternatives in different environments and developing system designs that could be implemented in these selected countries under the sub region and NGOs, while materializing the project during the second phase. The major objective of the second phase of the project is to establish a regional database at ECA.
