Abstract
An Expert Group meeting was held in New York from 16 to 24 January 1978 to finalize the draft global recommendations for the 1980 population and housing censuses to be submitted to the 20th cession of the Statistical Commission in January 1975. The meeting was organized by the United Nations Statistical Office (UNSO) and was attended by 17 experts from developed and developing countries as well as from various agencies. The African region was represented by Mr. M. El Mokhatar Zamel, Director of Statistics, Mauritania, Mr. E.A. Colecraft, Census Office, Ghana, and Mr. R. Andrianasolo, Chief, Demographic and Social Statistics Section, UNBCA Statistics Division.
