West economy will develop considerably in the next ten years. The speed of this development depends on decisive and wise action by West African leaders. The resources and present economies of the fourteen independent nations comprising West Africa were studied to prepare an overall development programme which may help West Africana achieve a rapid and balanced economic growth. This paper serves as an introduction to and 'summary of the work that has been done thus-far.
