Household economic surveys in Africa

Abstract

The paper starts with a brief historical review of household consumptions and expenditure surveys conducted so far in Africa since the early fifties progress achieved during the 60’s compared with the work done in the 50’s will be depicted this will involve taking stock of the surveys conducted so far in the African regional in respect of such characteristics as type of survey sample design sample size recording arrangements and frequency of visits etc this section of the paper ends with a summary of the present situation with respect to these characteristics in current African household economic survey
