The sub-region of West Africa consists of eleven coastal and three land-locked countries. The main climatic zones covered by its land mass of over 6,000,000 square kilometers consist of the forest, dry and humid savannah and maritime zones. Production in the sub-region of traditional products and to a limited extent of non-traditional commodities has been directly influenced by factors of climate and ecology
