Food strategies in the African Least Developed Countries : an assessment

The study is divided into four main sections: Section I deals with introduction and background followed by Section II and III respectively dealing with an assessment of food production discussed in terms of its availability to satisfy nutritional requirements within economies beset by unique economic vulnerabilities; and food strategies and general agricultural development policies which are reviewed against a setting of (a) past agricultural development policies, (b) national food strategies in respect of the Regional Food Plan for Africa( the Lagos Plan of Action and the Substantial New Programme of Action and (c) Production potentialities. The final Section IV is on summary and recommendations.
