Welcome To The ECA Library

The ECA Knowledge and Library Services play a key role in the Commission’s knowledge management activities and significantly impact the quality of its knowledge products and services. The ECA Library was established in 1959 to meet the administrative and research information needs of the Commission and the region. The mission of the Library, as a central catalyst for organizational effectiveness, is to continuously enrich and add value to the Commission's knowledge ecosystem, by providing reliable access to high quality information resources and services. In this regard, the library provides services in support of policy research, learning and teaching by connecting communities, within and beyond the parent organization (ECA Divisions/SROs/IDEP, member States, subregional organizations, other institutions and Africa’s development partners) to both in-house and externally generated information and knowledge.
Through its Institutional Repository, the library provides a wealth of knowledge produced by the Commission since 1958. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) provides an interface to search and browse the Library's physical information resources and E-Resources collection with over 35 premium full-text online databases provide access to over 90,000 titles of e-journals, e-books and statistical databases, as well as a host of open source and other-freely available online resources. Additionally the Knowledge and Library Services provides programmes to strengthen the capacity of African libraries and information centers in capturing, managing and disseminating local content.
