The objectives of this investigation are to ascertain the effect of population changes on primary level educational developments in Africa, four variants of population projections were used for this exercise, namely "low", "medium", "high"' and "constant" fertility prepared by the United Nations Population Division. These projections are available- for the period 1965-1985. The enrolment data for the base year1 -r 19-65 3 are obtained from the UNESCO Statistical Tear Book. For a very few countries enrolment, figures for the year 1965 were not available in the year book.
