The teaching of statistics at the middle, intermediate and under graduate levels in Africa has tended to follow traditional syllabuses. Thus, statistical theory and methods, sampling techniques, design of experiments, statistical inference, economic statistics, demographic statistics, data processing etc have lectured prominently in the content of training at the various training centers. In both the theory and applied fields, there has been very little attempt to adapt the course content to the needs and priorities of the region.
