The paper deals about the developing countries (LDCs) generally and Africa in particular about the unprecedented rates of population growth implying, a doubling of the population every 20 to 30 years has renewed the attention of social scientists to the rate of population growth. In a comprehensive review of the analytical approaches between population growth and socioeconomic development, Birds all has observed that the analytic models of Leibensten (1954) and Nelson (1956) reintroduced population as an endogenous variable influenced by income.
