Preparatory and capacity-development workshop for major groups and other stakeholders in Africa: Concept note

Abstract

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is organizing a preparatory and capacity-development workshop for major groups and other stakeholders in Africa, scheduled for 7-8 April 2025 in Kampala. This workshop aims to enhance the participation of diverse communities in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want. It will address the critical role of major groups in promoting accountability, transparency, and inclusivity in development processes. The workshop will feature sessions on the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa, the contributions of stakeholders to science-based solutions, and the importance of disaster risk reduction. Expected outcomes include increased preparedness of stakeholders for the Forum, improved capacity to monitor and review progress towards the SDGs, and enhanced cooperation among various groups to promote effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063.
