The course on Planning Techniques to be held at Douala (Pan-African Institute for Development, IPD) and at Kinshasa (Lovanium University), falls within the framework of the new policy of IDEP, henceforth intent on collaborating with the institutions for economic research and development existing in Africa. Besides IDEP, the Faculty of Economics of Lavanium University, IRES (institute for Economic and Social Studies at the same University) and the IPD (Pan-African Institute for Development) will contribute to the programme as well as the researchers and experts in planning chosen from Africa especially from the Central African sub-region. The aim of the course is to introduce a selected group of third year students from Kinshasa University (Lovanium), graduates of the IPD and civil servants from planning departments in the Central African sub-region, to economic planning techniques and the problems involved in their application. It will thus be necessary to create actual planning conditions, hence to devote part of the time to the study of the economic and social structures of the countries.
