South African industry is highly advanced. Its technology matches that of some European countries. in the field of mining, it uses some of the most advanced machinery in the world and yet its manual labour is amongest the most backward. In fact, the mines prefer illiterate workers preferably tribal migrant labour. Herein lies the source of the enigma in South African politics- economics sophistication side by side with primitive feudal relations.
