Economic development models indicate that, as the economy develops, both the contribution of agriculture to total GDP and the percentage of the population engaged in agriculture will decrease. Considering that agriculture is the primary industry of a community, its relative importance in the economy will inevitably decrease as the economy develops, but this decrease is now percentages of agriculture’s contribution to the GDP and share in total economically active population by themselves do not indicate economic development or progress.
