Transnational corporations in the marketing and exports of African primary commodities some policy implications
Abstract
Since the colonial period transnational corporation have played a decisive role in determining production and trade of African primary commodities in the early stages of agricultural development in Africa TNCs controlled large scale plantation agriculture and the production of cash crops for exports other TNCs concentrated on mining and extractives industries also for export. they decided what crop to produces how much investment was required and where to sell them. This pattern has not changed significantly after independence.
