This study considers how the APRM Country Review Reports have analyzed issues of corruption and its control in 14 countries - (Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Nigeria, Mauritius, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Uganda) - with assessments that are available to the public. Since corruption has been described as the most daunting challenge to good governance, sustainable economic growth, peace, stability, and development in Africa, the APRM reports are a study in national acknowledgement of the extent of the problem, its manifestations, and programmes to manage it. Furthermore, given the sensitivities on corruption in most countries, the reports give an insight into assessments of the scale of corruption and measures to confront it, and contribute to fostering transparent dialogue on national priorities and setting an agenda.
