Abstract

The purpose of the Regional Plan of Action on Youth was to promote effective measures for the meaningful and substantial participation of youth in all areas of national development, particularly in the improvement of their educational, professional and living conditions and in maximizing their contribution to the development process through a comprehensive and well-coordinated national youth policy. The paper contained guidelines on the overall direction of regional activities that could be undertaken prior to, during and beyond the International Youth Year. The Meeting examined the draft proposals and formulated a Regional Plan of Action based on the economic, social, cultural and political situation of youth.
