An issues paper: Africa and the multilateral trading systems Doha and beyond
Abstract
The overriding challenge today for most African countries is how to achieve sustainable development and
poverty reduction in a global economy characterized by rapid globalisation and liberalisation. Although
many regions of the world have benefited from the opening up of the global economy, many acknowledge
that few African countries have gained from this development.
