The situation of women in Guinea after the killings of September 28, 2009, but also the situation of women in Darfur will feature high on the agenda of the 15th Consultative Meeting on gender mainstreaming in the African Union that the Economic Commission for Africa is hosting from 21 to 22 January 2010 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Mrs. Mary Robinson, former High Commissioner of the United Nations for Human Rights, Mrs. Soyata Maiga, Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR), Mrs. Bineta DIOP, Executive Director of Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) and other African women leaders will participate in this meeting which is being organized by the Network: Genre is My Calendar Campaign (GIMAC) and coordinated by Femmes Afrique Solidarité (FAS), an NGO based in Dakar, Senegal. Testimonies of women from countries affected by violence will be heard.
