The Sixth Joint annual Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development kicks off this week on 21 March, on the theme: “Industrialization for an Emerging Africa” in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. The Conference will take place against the backdrop of a growing need to reverse the current state of Africa's economies through strong industrialization strategies that place greater emphasis on value addition of the extractive sectors and the modernization of agriculture. According to the organizers, industrialization has the potential to be a powerful driver of sustainable pro-poor growth in African countries. Four key sessions will focus on accelerating Industrialization in Africa; Industrialization and Structural Transformation in Africa; Planning Industrialization; and Financing Africa's Industrialization.
