South African President and Chair of the High Level Panel (HLP) on Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) from Africa, Thabo Mbeki will meet with representatives of the Mauritian governments, private sector, academia and civil society to discuss the issue of IFFs, which have contributed to stunt Africa’s development over the last decades. The meetings, which take place on 6 & 7 March 2014 in Port Louis, Mauritius, aim to better appraise the scale, manifestations and negative impact of such flows on Africa’s development and governance as well as look at the matter of IFF from the perspective of small islands economies.
