The main objective of the ECA African Training and Research Centre for women (ATRCW) is to provide, promote and coordinate actions and disseminate information on women as vital human resources for development in Africa. It seeks to achieve this objective with the active participation and cooperation of member states, whom it serves. The programme areas reflected in the ECA work programme and priorities for 1984-1985 originate from and reflect mandates given at global, regional and subregional forums and take into consideration the human and material resources expected to be available for the ECA women’s programme in the next biennium. The first part of this paper examines the activities of the Center while the second considers the budgetary situation for the period.
