Abstract

The speech is addressed by Mr. Oumar Baha Diara on his Election as Chairman of the Fourth session of the Economic Commission for Africa. On his speech the peoples of Africa-north, south, east or west-are seeking better living conditions in a world at peace. They have inherited a lacework, black and white, Africa. some have been flattered by their intelligence, others by wealth, and at the end of the day no-one has told them the only true facts that their peoples do not know their frontiers, that their peoples wish to emerge from the darkness of ignorance to eat more and better to be decently housed and to be men in every sense of the term. h
