This note delivered by the OAU/ECA Secretariats on UNCTAD studies on a global system of trade preferences among developing countries (GSTP) state trading organizations and multinational marketing enterprises. The studies to be reviewed in the present paper are related to the specific situation of the African region and examined primarily in terms of the needs of the African region while maintaining the overall objective of co-operation among the developing countries. The studies carried out in respect of the African region are quite comprehensive and carry with them several recommendations which commend themselves for serious consideration by experts at various levels.
