Recent demographic trends in Kenya a differential fertility analysis characterized by high rate of population increase. This rise in the rate of population increase has been influenced by decline in mortality particularly infant mortality and a rise in the crude birth rate. The policy of Kenya's current development plan is reduction of poverty and improvement of equity. The Government's main pre-occupation is improvement of the quality of life through reduction of disease, improvement of hygiene and nutrition leading to a reduction in- the mortality rates; this paper will therefore look into levels of fertility.
