The past year was marked by increased Bank activity in Africa and by the creation within the Bank of a new Department of Operations for Africa. All the newly independent African countries have applied to become members of the Bank and a number are already members. Missions are being sent to new members as soon a possible to examine their economies and the opportunities for loans and advisory assistance. There has been an increasing number of requests for various types of technical assistance from these new member countries and there have been preliminary requests from others who are in the process of joining. international economic order should be revised to take in to account the problem of economic development.
