African women have always worked in the fields, in the markets and in the homes in our countries. We know this so well that we too often take for granted the enormous actual and potential contribution of women to the development of our continent and its people. It is time for us,who try to guide our nations along the road to development,to acknowledge women's work.We need to admit that the major problems of development defy solution without the active participation of women.
