The primary purpose of the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning shall be the specialist training of the officials of those services and institutions in Africa responsible for economic policy design and management and development planning, monitoring and evaluation. Such training shall include appropriate supportive research activities. The Institute shall also organize seminars of varied duration on practical problems of national and regional development, pertinent to its training mandate and the needs of African Governments.
