The paper presented at the joint conference prepared by ECA and Dalhousie University on the Lagos Plan of Action and Africa’s future international relations from November 2 to 4,1984.The working document primarily
focuses on the Final Act of Lagos (FAL) and Lagos Plan of Action (LPA) as a foundation of decolonization in achieving socio-economic transformation and African
economic integration. It provides an overview of how ECA realized the formation of Sub - regions and promote a network of economic cooperation among the countries of in each sub-region. The paper further examines how the Lagos Plan of Action and Final Act of Lagos brings the continent regional and sub-regional integration in terms of economic and social aspects. It has also discussed the role of international community in facilitating intra-African co-operation by supporting regional and sub-regional projects.
